On the northern slope of the Turkestan range lies a hidden gem - the Ai-Köl Lake, which translates to 'the moon lake'. To get to this picturesque location, you need to embark on a journey that takes you to an elevation of around 3000m, but the effort is well worth it. The lake, with an area of 0.82 sq. km, is surrounded by sheer cliffs that are almost impossible to approach. However, you can still catch glimpses of the breathtaking lake through small passes in the spurs. Two streams flow into Ai-Kel, and the water level rises during the summer months and subsides during the winter, creating a beautiful layer of ice on the lake.
