Suusamyr Valley: Grassy Plains and Pastoral Beauty on the Osh-Bishkek Road
Visits: 14171
The Suusamyr Valley is located on the road between Osh and Bishkek. Suusamyr is at the end of the large tunnel through the Too-Ashuu Pass, at an altitude of about 2200 meters above sea level. The valley boasts wide grass-covered plains.
Suusamyr herbs are especially juicy in summer, so many shepherds come here to graze their cattle on summer pastures (Jailoos). Delicious airan, honey, kumys, and kurut are sold by the roadside. Some believe that the best kumys in the country can be found in Suusamyr.
On the eastern edge of the Suusamyr Valley is the village of the same name. Both in the valley and in the village, there are many yurts where tourists can stay, and the surrounding mountains offer several popular tourist routes.
