Abshir-Ata Waterfall - A Sacred Site and a Natural Wonder

Visits: 1551

Located in the Abshir-Say valley, 70 km away from the city of Osh, Abshir-Ata waterfall is a stunning natural wonder that attracts visitors from all over the world. The waterfall can be reached by walking through a picturesque gorge for about 3 km from the river's mouth. At a height of 12-15 m from the ground, a rapid water flow falls down the cliff from a hole with a diameter of 1.5 m. The water contains mineral salts and is considered sacred, with many people filling vessels with it. According to legend, a mysterious stranger once struck the rock with his staff, causing milk to flow out of it. This event made Abshir-Ata a sacred site, with pilgrims visiting from far and wide. Although the water flowing from the waterfall is now simple, the site retains its sacred significance and continues to captivate visitors with its natural beauty.
