Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden Park

The pride of Bishkek is the huge Botanical Garden, one of the most beautiful places in the city. The Botanical Garden is named after a famous Kyrgyz biologist, Gareev, and is now part of the National Academy of Sciences. Established in 1938, the Botanical Garden is one of the largest and most diverse in Central Asia and CIS countries. There are 2,500 species of trees and shrubs, 3,500 species of flowers and greenhouse species, and over 8,000 species of fruit plants in the Botanical Garden. There are also 4 laboratories that function as research institutes, occupying 124 hectares, only 36 of which are open to the public. As with many other gardens around the world, the best time to visit the Botanical Gardens is in spring and autumn. In spring, the Gardens are filled with the scent of flowers and new leaves, while in autumn, the leaves turn yellow and red, creating a bright color palette. The Botanical Gardens are great for a stroll or a picnic in the fresh air.
