Ak-Say Glacier

The Ak-Say Glacier

The Ak-Sai glacier is located at an altitude of 3500 m in the Ala-Archa gorge, near the city of Bishkek. The Kyrgyz Ala-Too mountains, which are the most famous among mountaineers, form the Ak-Sai semi-horseshoe. They are located in such a way that they do not allow south winds to penetrate into the valley, which is why a colossal layer of ice has formed here. For the convenience of climbing in the area of the Ak-Sai glacier, four base camps were founded, the most famous of which is the Ratseka Hut. Hiking on the glacier is very popular among travelers from different countries, more than 80 routes have been laid. The highest and most beautiful peaks in the area: Semenov-Tyan-Shansky (4875 m), Korona (4860 m), Svobodnaya Korea (4740 m), Bailyan-Bashi (4700 m), Simagina (4400 m), Boxing (4240 m) .
